Why clean your decking?
Not only can the area get dirty and worn but Winter weather causes green lichen, moss and mould to grow on the decking surface, this can be problematic for a number of reasons:
How we clean your decking?
With both wood and composite decks we like to be gentle and apply a soft wash to the area, this is when the pressure on our equipment is reduced so that the area is not damaged, we then spray with an anti-fungal residual cleaning agent which helps keep green algae from reappearing and acts with rain water to activate the residual cleaner so that your decking area stays cleaner for longer.

As mentioned above your decking can become incredibly slippery if it becomes covered in Algae and Moss. You should also always treat your decking every year so that it lasts well. However before that you must make sure to pressure clean your decking before treating and making sure it is dry before doing so.
This decking area in Glasgow’s Southside was very large measuring around 16 foot by 16 foot and as you can see it is covered in black dirt, algae and stains. Before starting we trated the decking with an anti fungal detergent and let to soak in for 15 minutes before rinsing off.
The decking was of an old age and some of the wood was already starting to rot due to it not being treated in a long time. This meant we had to take extra care with the pressure washer to stop any further damage.
The decking came up brilliantly and is now ready for staining or painting.
